Dr. Trinh holds a PhD in economics from Deakin University, Australia. His PhD dissertation is ‘Non-life Insurance Expenditure in Developed and Developing Economies’. He is currently working as a full-time lecturer at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Finance, Economics, and Accounting, International University (Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City). He is currently leading a team of researchers from Australia, Taiwan, and Vietnam on a project (NAFOSTED grant) entitled "Culture, pandemic, and socio-economic outcomes: An international analysis and Vietnam’s applications." In addition, he is also the principal investigator of a number of grants funded by Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City and International University.
His research interests include applied economics, financial economics, the insurance industry's economic aspects, tourism, international trade, saving behavior, and entrepreneurship in developing economies. He has published in a number of good journals, such as Applied Economics (A-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q2), Economic Modelling (A-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q1), Economics of Transition (A-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q2), Research in International Business and Finance (B-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q1), The North American Journal of Economics and Finance (B-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q2), and Review of Income and Wealth (A-ranked in ABDS list, SSCI-Q1; IF: 2.0). He also has a forthcoming article in International Review of Financial Analysis (A-ranked in the ABDC list, SSCI-Q1; IF: 9.8). Dr Trinh has served as a referee for Economic Modelling, Journal of International Trade and Economic Development, Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, and SN Business and Economics. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Eurasian Economic Review (C-ranked in the ABDC list, ESCI Q2, IF: 2.3). Dr Trinh has presented and served as chair of sessions at a total of 15 international conferences in the United States, Australia, Turkey, Singapore, Laos, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
